It’s a holiday weekend and many of you, I am sure, have special plans with family or friends or both. Or maybe you are just relaxing this weekend without much to do at all. Whatever it is a hope it makes you happy:)

Of course, that said, there are people who have to work so that others can enjoy time off. For the past 28 years one of the small businesses Chuck and I have been running, a pet sitting service, have been caring for people’s pets in their homes during all popular vacation times. So this is a busy time for us and our staff.

We are not the only ones who work while others vacation. Many folks have to work because certain things never shut down. Emergency veterinarian hospitals, human hospitals, police, firefighters, hotel staff, travel staff at airports, etc., etc.

If you are going out to eat on Easter, tip the staff generously. (We usually end up at Denny’s on Easter and we make sure our server gets a whopper of a tip. I love to see the servers face when they see our tip:)

Showing gratitude for people around us and what we have is so important!

Yesterday at the office for our humane society I received an email from a college student who said her dad was just diagnosed with advanced cancer. She said he has 1-2 months to live. She asked if we could go visit him with a dog. “He had a dachshund a long time ago and would love to spend time with one.” We are trying to arrange that now.

Life is fragile and fleeting. For those we know and don’t know who’s health isn’t good now, who suffer and are scared, we need to send out our love and prayers.

Today and every day pausing and counting our blessings and being grateful for good health, family, friends and strangers, help us keep things in perspective and make us better people.

It also sends those good thoughts out into the universe and showers the world with love. Gratitude equals love which connects us all in a positive way. Connecting in a positive way can and does make the world a better place.

With love always,
